LETTERS JULY/AUGUST 1997
A MISTAKE Thank you so much for the coverage you gave the Catholic Society of Evangelists in the June edition. We appreciate the help you are giving us in promoting the society. However, you made one error. The bishop I told you about was Bishop Straling (who is no longer with the Diocese of San Bernardino), not Bishop Barnes, the current bishop. Also, the line in the article "Any fool can do it," was to be "any fool for the Lord can begin to evangelize." Tom Balboa Catholic Society of Evangelists Grand Terrace
MORE VALUABLE THAN A PARKING LOT To express our disagreement with Cardinal Mahony's new cathedral project is one thing; but to say, as letter-writer Patrick F. Flynn says in the June 1997 Mission, that "it is the ruination of a good parking lot," is another. No matter how much we may personally dislike the idea of the new cathedral, especially the cost, remember that this cathedral will contain Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, which makes it infinitely more valuable than even the best parking lot.
